Picture of the immense church

Since Fontenay is (was) a cysterciencer abbey, there was no decoration. Everything was meant to be sober. Just that makes it so impressive.

This is one of the best preserved cysterciencer abbeyes in the world and on the list of World Heritage.

I like these pics. I wish you had got the top of the arch, though Sun 11-May-2008 12:43

Le lit de de marquise (2)

The marquis was 35 when he married, the marquise 13. The marquise became a widow when she was 22 years old, because her husband died in the war. Although they had seperate appartments, there were 4 children when the marquise was widowed.

(Chateau de Cormattin, France)

Well, at least everyone knew when they 'did it'. This seems to have been a peculiar feature in many olden cultures Sat 10-May-2008 11:02

I especially like the second and third pictures. The light streaming through the window in the third shot is classic, timeless and beautiful Sat 10-May-2008 11:00
